You may recall that we asked you back in January this year how important London Weighting was to you and you overwhelmingly stated that UNISON and UCU should continue to pursue our claim for a further uplift.
After extensive negotiations between UNISON and UCU and Senior Management, the final offer on Annual Leave and London Weighting is as follows;
Annual Leave: 30 days of leave for all staff from February 2020
The Vice-Chancellor’s Executive Group has approved the harmonisation of annual leave across job levels with effect from 1 February 2020. For clarity, from that date (the start of the next annual leave year), all staff would be afforded 30 days annual leave (an increase of 3 days for employees in Levels 1-6), with the position in respect of public holidays and University Closure dates remaining unchanged.
As you may be aware UNISON reignited the demand for annual leave parity for all staff to receive 30 days annual leave per annum. As this has now been achieved we will accept the offer on members behalf.
London Weighting: one off payment of £275 to settle the London Weighting claim
The Vice-Chancellor’s Executive Group has approved the offer of a one off payment of £275 to all staff on the single pay spine i.e., L1 – 9 to settle the London Weighting claim submitted initially by UNISON and UCU in July 2018. For clarity, the University is prepared to make this payment to all staff currently employed and not restrict it to only those employed at the time of the claim.
As a member, you will have been sent an email asking you to vote to accept or decline the London Weighting offer. Can you please vote by Wednesday 11th December.
